When Creativity Connects

When Creativity Connects

One of the reasons I cherish being a mixed media and textile artist is the way it allows me to connect with people on a deeper level than I ever could in the corporate world. This connection feels more authentic, more aligned with how I want to engage with others as we navigate this crazy journey called life.

Recently, I experienced a moment that reminded me why I do what I do. It left me feeling energized and inspired in a way that's hard to describe—something visceral, beautiful, and profoundly moving. The words shared with me by Lelah St. Pierre had a profound impact, and I’m sharing them here to honour that moment and the connection it represents.

**Laleh, your words hit home in the best possible way, and I can’t thank you enough for that!**

« When I woke up that morning buying a major piece of art was not on my radar. Instead I was planning some life changes—daunting, yet hopeful adjustments that promised to shift my life’s trajectory for the better. I was letting go of unhealthy attachments and setting myself up to fly. Later, we were at the Toronto Outdoor Art Fair to help some family members with their artwork. I came across Gillian’s work during a break as I casually browsed the tents. I found myself unable to move away from the beautiful landscapes. Such deep and vibrant colours, so much energy and depth. The textiles seemed to radiate light…it was breath taking. I knew I needed to take one home with me. It was hard to choose. I later found out that the one I picked was titled “Reaching For the Sun” from a collection called “Endless Growth”. I could not have imagined a more perfect match for what I was going through. It felt like a gift from the universe. This beautiful painting now sits in our living room where I can see it every day and remember what it felt like to feel abundance as you let go. It has brought so much life and energy to the house. You can almost smell the trees if you stare at it long enough. I feel incredibly lucky to have crossed paths with Gillian and was able to bring home this magnificent work of art. »
